Eyes

"When you are writing, do you prefer to use a pen or a computer?"

I suppose it depends on what I'm writing. If it's a note to someone, then I use a pen. But if it is some kind document, I prefer the computer. I'm a much faster typer than I am a writer. And I can edit my typing much easier than when it is done by pen.

Today I am thankful for my eyes. Yesterday was kind of a cloudy day, and it rained lightly in the evening. I loved it. :) But, what I also loved was waking up to a beautiful, cool, sunshiney morning. The air is clear and smells wonderful. And it looks beautiful. When I was a child, I often thought that if I had to lose one of my senses, I would pick my eyesight. I don't know what I was thinking! It was crazy talk, that's for sure. :) I love being able to see the millions of colors that are around me each day. I'm a big color person. I love color, and I can appreciate it because of my eyes.

Hang with me on this next thought, this is going to sound wierd (though, I suppose you should have come to expect that from me). One of the many reasons I know God is real is because of eyes. Have you ever learned how they are formed and the actual processes that happen to make them function? I have (in fact I spent over half a semester in one class and another half of a semester in another class, just learning about eyes) and they are fantastically and amazingly complicated. (I challenge you to learn about it--it's sooo facinating. Well, at least it was to the biologist in me. :)) There was no freakin' way that random evolution, over millions of years, could have just randomly selected for the exact correct DNA to create an eyeball to properly and ideally function. Ironically, the biologist in me is skeptical of "random." Now, I'm not debating general evolution, I agree that evolution (meaning: change of over time) happens. What I am saying is that there is a Supreme Being that organizes it and guides it so that it is most effective. And I am eternally grateful that I know God is that Supreme Being and that He is my Heavenly Father and I am His daughter.

And that, my friends, is why I am grateful for my eyes. :)
