Pinewood Derby

Last night was our somewhat annual Ward Pinewood Derby. We played by "Shumway Rules" meaning there were no rules, anything goes. Which was awesome. :)

Here is my car: I call it the Cleadus Mobile. I made it an hour. Cleadus is the little lego guy, and you can't tell in this picture, but he has a image of a beaver on his hat and he is wearing a plaid shirt. I think he is supposed to be a lumberjack. So then to weigh the car down, I put in a bunch of rocks. The secret to pinewood derby is weight. The heavier the car, the faster it will go. :) Thus I used rocks. Oh, and a Rodent of Unusual Size.

At the Races:
Can you see the cars as they race down the track?
People tried to avoid one car because it was powered by a CO2 canister and shot off the end. In fact Brother Shumway got hit with it a little while after this picture.

My car did pretty well. It won the first three heats and then got second in the last two.

So over all I did okay. I got 4th or 5th Place out of probably 15 cars. It was really fun and we had a great turnout to the activity. :)

Today I am thankful for Ward Leadership that does so much to make our ward fun and functional. I know they put a lot of work and time into supporting our ward and I am grateful for them. :)
