I Don't Like Hospitals

So not to be melodramatic (because I NEVER am), but I thought I was going to die this week. In fact I was pretty sure I was.

Here is what happened.

I got some kind of bug. Nasty, nasty bug. I won't go into the unpleasant details, but I got slammed hard by some freaky virus. It was a cold and stomach flu double whammy.

Sunday night it was so bad that I had my roommate take me to the ER because I was so dehydrated.

The nurses got me right into a room, but then took forever to get an IV going and get me my nausea medicine (I couldn't move without getting severly nauseated).

It took 4 nurses and 5 attempts to get my IV in and going. Okay, technically, the 4th try was the actual IV (it was in my hand), but they tried a 5th time to put in my meds. Failure. They decided to stick it in my IV that was already in. I was so dehydrated that the doctor gave me three liters of fluids.

The funniest part of the night was towards the beginning. There was a man in a room near mine that was groaning and moaning really awkwardly. Both Bekah and I were quite uncomfortable and couldn't stop laughing. We wanted to ask the nurses what his deal was, but we were kind of nervous to hear the answer. So we didn't ask. But it was funny.

I ended up being there for 8 hours. I felt really bad because my roommate took me and had to work the next morning. We got home at 4:30am and she had to wake up an hour later to go to work. Fortunately, I skipped work. My doctor ended up taking me out of work almost all week. I did go back Friday, but only for a few hours.

Here is what my left arm looked like a few days after my ER visit. They poked that side three times. The bruises were very pretty.

So this is why I haven't blogged or done anything for the past week. It took me week to have an actual meal. I still can't eat too much, but at least I'm hungry again.

This is what part of my desk looked like when I came back. And after I had worked for a couple of hours. It was much worse before.

Fun times. I'm still having a hard time talking. I think my vocal cords are burned from all the coughing and stomach acid. Anyway, so I am going to excuse myself for the last week of not blogging. Nothing exciting happened anyway.

I think I am going to take a little nap now.
