So I realized that I haven't shared some happy news!
My sister, Caitlin, and her husband Nick, are being sealed on April 23rd!! Cait and Nick were married almost 2 years ago, so this is very exciting. Like, totally.
YEAH!!!
I'm really excited for them. Maybe then they'll start having babies! That would be fun.
Anyway...I was hoping to be able to go through the temple with them, but I haven't gotten the okay (something about me not being old enough...)
And my mom and nana are coming, as well as a bunch of our family is coming in town for it. So it will be fun to see all of them. We should have a luncheon or something...hmmm....

I Don't Like Hospitals
So not to be melodramatic (because I NEVER am), but I thought I was going to die this week. In fact I was pretty sure I was.
Here is what happened.
I got some kind of bug. Nasty, nasty bug. I won't go into the unpleasant details, but I got slammed hard by some freaky virus. It was a cold and stomach flu double whammy.
Sunday night it was so bad that I had my roommate take me to the ER because I was so dehydrated.
The nurses got me right into a room, but then took forever to get an IV going and get me my nausea medicine (I couldn't move without getting severly nauseated).
It took 4 nurses and 5 attempts to get my IV in and going. Okay, technically, the 4th try was the actual IV (it was in my hand), but they tried a 5th time to put in my meds. Failure. They decided to stick it in my IV that was already in. I was so dehydrated that the doctor gave me three liters of fluids.
The funniest part of the night was towards the beginning. There was a man in a room near mine that was groaning and moaning really awkwardly. Both Bekah and I were quite uncomfortable and couldn't stop laughing. We wanted to ask the nurses what his deal was, but we were kind of nervous to hear the answer. So we didn't ask. But it was funny.
I ended up being there for 8 hours. I felt really bad because my roommate took me and had to work the next morning. We got home at 4:30am and she had to wake up an hour later to go to work. Fortunately, I skipped work. My doctor ended up taking me out of work almost all week. I did go back Friday, but only for a few hours.
Here is what my left arm looked like a few days after my ER visit. They poked that side three times. The bruises were very pretty.
So this is why I haven't blogged or done anything for the past week. It took me week to have an actual meal. I still can't eat too much, but at least I'm hungry again.
This is what part of my desk looked like when I came back. And after I had worked for a couple of hours. It was much worse before.
Fun times. I'm still having a hard time talking. I think my vocal cords are burned from all the coughing and stomach acid. Anyway, so I am going to excuse myself for the last week of not blogging. Nothing exciting happened anyway.
I think I am going to take a little nap now.

Two Truths & a Lie
Yesterday I did a little "Two Truths and a Lie" for April Fool's Day. Here is what I said and the explanations:
1. I sprained my ankle pretty bad in college, all because a boy winked at me. True. My Junior Year we were playing this winking tag game and a super attractive guy winked at me and I ran to him (the point of the game) and I tripped over my own feet. I didn't think my ankle was that bad, but my roommates thought I had broken it, so I ended up in the ER the next day. Turns out it the ligaments along the outside of my foot were torn. Lovely. I was on crutches for the next month and had to move apartments during that time. Luckily, the guy that had winked at me was a good friend and felt really bad about my ankle so he and his cousin moved all my stuff for me, in the rain. :) So kind of them. So I guess it kind of worked out. For me. :)
2. Cellular and Molecular Biology was my favorite class in college. The text book was over 3.5 inches thick. True. I loved, loved, loved that class! One of my favorite things we did was have a overnight "retreat" to do some presentations that we didn't have time for in the lecture. It was so much fun! We drove to a cabin and did our presentations and then hung out the rest of time. I loved that after we were done for the night, everyone got together in their PJ's (totally appropriate) and read our scriptures together with our professor. Where else can you do that? So awesome. Then the next day our Professor started a snowball fight. Also awesome! Oh, and I also loved the subject matter. It was completely fascinating to me. Sometimes I still read the textbook--for fun. I am such a nerd. And I am okay with that. :)
3. I was voted most popular girl in my Ward in my senior year of college. Completely False. Yeah right!! ha ha ha. That would have been a hilarious joke. If we had voted, my roommate Lisa would have been the most popular. Why? Because she was (and still is) fabulous and really nice and super fun--and the most popular girl in our ward. I love Lisa. :) Though, I do have to say that my Freshman year, I was voted most likely to die of pneumonia. Again, lovely. That was because I ended up in the hospital with a bad case of bronchitis. My roommates thought it was so funny. It wasn't really. And just to be clear, those are the only two times I ended up in the ER in college. It wasn't like it happened all the time.
So there you go. :)

April Fool's Day
I'm totally going to copy someone else's idea and do two truths and a lie in honor of April Fool's Day. :)
1. I sprained my ankle pretty bad in college, all because a boy winked at me.
2. Cellular and Molecular Biology was my favorite class in college. The text book is over 3.5 inches thick.
3. I was voted most popular girl in my Ward in my senior year of college.
Apparently this was a college edition. :) So which one is the lie?? I'll answer it tomorrow! ha ha ha!
***
Also I wanted to highlight some of my favorite pranks I've done or have been a party to.
** In high school, my best friend and I saran-wrapped a friend's car. But a little twist on the classic was that we put folded up notes (a couple hundred of them) in each of the layers so he had to unwrap each layer individually to see what the notes said. Then a week later we attacked his bedroom and put yellow curling ribbon EVERYWHERE and in EVERYTHING! Several years later (after his mission), he was still finding ribbons. He says he now hates yellow curling ribbon. ha ha ha. :)
** In college, we got in a prank war with a boys' apartment in our ward. We stole their furniture and mascot. They sealed our door with a garbage bag and dumped leaves in between the door and the bag so all the leaves spilled inside--which was discovered about 3am. Not super fun. Then we put cheesewhiz notes on their windows. They stole their mascot back. We put liquid soap in their dishwasher. Ha ha ha. That one was awesome. Then they won with a classic. They put two truckloads of snow in front of our door. We lived on the second floor. It was impressive. It was below freezing so our door was frozen shut almost all day. We had to get in and out through our livingroom window. The manager was really upset and then made them come clean it up in the afternoon! Sweet Justice! :)
The funniest part about apartment being "snowed in" was that I was walking across campus a couple of days later and I heard people talking about it. That was awesome!

"spring, Spring, SPRING!"
Name the movie that I stole the above title from! The person(s) are singing the line. And now the word "spring" looks real funny now. Anyway...
Last week's weather was awful. Tons of flooding everywhere and now, GORGEOUS SPRING! Yeah!!!! It makes me happy. It may have to do with the Vitamin D I am now able to get, but hey.
My bulbs are starting to grow too. The trees are getting leaves and if the backyard weren't such a mud pit, I would be tempted to hang out back there.
The only bummer was that there weren't any flowers last year. Leaves, yes. Flowers, no. I was devastated, truly I was. But this year--there are flowers!!! Look, see! They are starting to blossom!!
And some day, when I am a big girl and have my own home, I'm going to plant the lilacs in my yard. Some day...
Oh, and the movie is "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers...In case you were wondering...

When I pruned the roses, I was worried they wouldn't grow back. Boy, was I wrong! |

My bulbs are growing! And my morning glories!! Yippie! |

A tulip that was planted by previous renters. |
Last year, my Aunt tried to get rid of the huge lilac bushes that were at my house growing up. I was pretty upset about it because they were my favorite flower in the yard. Then magically, there were some that she transplanted into a pot to take to Idaho for my Nana. Mom didn't want them because she hates the smell and so I got them. I love the smell! Yippie!!

Also, apparently, my aunt planted little bulbs (I thought they were weeds until the blossomed) around the bottom, and those are blooming now too! Yeah for my aunt!

If All the Raindrops were Lemondrops & Gumdrops...
...There would be a lot of lemondrops and gumdrops.
It's been raining all week here.
Here is a slideshow from a local news channel that showed the flooding.
I took this picture of our backyard. Lovely. Yeah, our grass is going to die.
Here are some more pics of the field behind my office.

The weather for next week? Clear, beautiful, and in the 70's! Wahoo!! I will appreciate it so much more now!!

I wish I had a picture of the creek that feeds into the above field. It was flooded pretty badly. Fortunately, there were no houses near it, so there was no damage. But the creek is normally a couple of feet wide with lots of willows and brush close to it. Today you could hardly see any of the plants. It was probably at least 30 feet wide. Pretty amazing. At least there was no damage. I kind of like the wild and crazy weather. The weather for next week? Clear, beautiful, and in the 70's! Wahoo!! I will appreciate it so much more now!!

**Holiday Tree: Easter Edition**
For how I made the tree, click here.
Here is a little tutorial on how I did my Easter Holiday Tree ornaments:
Fortunately, Joann's was having a sale and I found some cute foam eggs that I painted to spring colors (it took a few coats). To paint them, I put them on floral wire for easy handling.

Yes, the floral wire is stuck in tealights. It was what I had handy so they could dry without getting smudged. :) |
(It is times like these where I really miss my old house in Lincoln. I had an area in the living room that was all mine and had my table and all my craft stuff. Now, everything is scattered all over my floor. :( Oh well.)
Anyway, moving on. Then I attached ribbon using a brad and hot glue. The brads were little ones that looked like buttons, I just glued a rhinestone to the top. I like shiny and glittery. :)

Sorry this is an awful picture--my camera is having issues, but you get the idea. |
Then I painted and glued and cut and glitter-ified the eggs to my heart's content. And my heart is definitely content! :) They turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.
For the butterflies, I attached ribbon that I had on hand to the back of the butterfly stickers (shown above, by K & Company) and then put them on pretty cardstock scraps I had, and then put some glitter glue on the pretty cardstock to give it a more finished look. The stickers were sticky enough that I didn't have to glue the ribbon on.
